The cut is the most important factor! Why the cut determines a diamond's sparkle.

If you could only choose one factor when buying a diamond, most experts would tell you to prioritize the "Cut." This is the heart of what makes a diamond sparkle, yet it is the factor most often overlooked.

**The Cut directly determines brilliance**

The sparkle emitted from a diamond depends primarily on its cut. If the facets are not proportioned correctly, light entering the stone will leak out from the bottom instead of reflecting back up, making the diamond look "dull" and lifeless, regardless of its color grade or clarity.

**D color does not guarantee beauty**

This is a common misconception. A D color grade only indicates that the diamond is colorless, not how it sparkles. A high-color diamond with a poor cut can look dull, whereas a diamond with a lower color grade but an excellent cut will appear much more brilliant.

**Always choose 3 Excellent**

The highest cut grade is Excellent. We recommend choosing a diamond with a GIA certificate that specifies "Excellent" for all three criteria: Cut, Polish, and Symmetry (known as 3EX), to ensure you get the most beautiful sparkle possible from that stone.
