Wow, why is the diamond price at that store so much cheaper!!!
I often have customers ask, "How much for a one-carat diamond with this color?" and then immediately conclude which shop is cheap or expensive... Hold on a second, did you forget to consider other factors?
When comparing prices, we must compare all 4 factors (the 4Cs):
- Diamond Color (Color)
Starting from D color (100% colorless) and going down. The whiter the diamond, the higher the price. The prices vary significantly between each color grade.
2. Diamond Weight (Weight)
Carat weight does not affect price linearly. For example, a 2-carat diamond compared to a 1-carat diamond with the same other qualities will not cost exactly double the price of the 1-carat one. Also, 0.49-carat and 0.50-carat diamonds have different base prices, so that tiny 0.01-carat difference causes a jump in price to the next level.
3. Diamond Cut Grade (Cutting)
This is very important because it directly affects the fire or brilliance of the diamond, which customers often overlook when just looking at a certificate. If the cut is the highest grade, "Triple Excellent," the price will be higher than a stone with a lower grade.
At Gems Heritage, we mostly use Triple Excellent diamonds for every stone, unless requested otherwise by the customer.
4. Diamond Clarity (Clarity)
The cleaner the diamond, the higher the price, ranging from FL down to I3. Many customers don't pay much attention to clarity because they think it's invisible, but in reality, clarity can also affect the fire or brilliance of the diamond. Normally, Gems Heritage uses VS and VVS clarity grades and above, unless a customer has a special request. You can read more about diamond clarity here
So, when comparing prices, be sure to compare all 4 factors, otherwise you might end up with the wrong comparison and accidentally buy something that is more expensive than it should be!
